The former captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Stephan Tataw is dead.

He died on Friday 31 July 2020 in Yaounde after a protracted illness.

“It was with great emotion that I learned of the death today of former Indomitable Lions captain Stephen Tataw. He leaves the memory of a great sportsman and a remarkable leader. All my condolences to his family and loved ones,” FECAFOOT President Seidou Mbombo Njoya tweeted.

The 57-year-old right-back Tataw led the Cameroon team during the 1990 World Cup in Italy in which Cameroon beat host Argentina and became the first African nation to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Stephan Tataw spent most of his Footbal career in his home country Cameroon, first at Tonnerre Kalara Club (TKC) Yaounde and later at the Olympique Mvolye before his last days at Tosu Futures in Japan.
