Former International Football star and captain of the Elephants of Cote d’ioire Didier Drogba has officially submitted his candidacy to run for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).
He filed his candidacy to the electoral committee of the Ivorian Football Federation on Saturday 01 August.
As aspiring President of FIF, Didier Drogba with his “Renaissance” project intends to revamp the Ivorian football which he says is facing a number of challenges.
“It is not so much being president of the FIF that interests me, but it is the mission which binds this function”, Drogba said.
“Our football is going badly (and) we are committed to contributing to the rebirth of Ivorian Football”, he added.
“I am back and determined to contribute my stone to the edifice, to the renewal and to the development of Ivorian football.
“Believing that it is very important for me to give back to Ivorian football everything that it has given me” he concluded.
The 42-year-old former striker of Olympique de Marseille and Chelsea resigned from professional football in 2018.
Drogba will be contesting this post with Idriss Diallo, Sory Diabate, and Koffi Kouakou Paul in the 05 September FIF elections.
