Philippe Redon, Former Indomitable Lions’ Coach is no more

The former coach of Liberia, and Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions passed away at the age of 69.

The announcement of his death was made public on Tweeter by Stade Rennais F.C, his former football club on Tuesday, 12 May 2020.

Redon served the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon between 1991 and 1992, during which he enabled Cameroon to reach the semi-finals stage of the 1992 African Cup of Nations in Senegal.

Redon had played for Stade Rennais, Bordeaux, FC Metz, Saint-Etienne and Paris Saint-Germain during his active days. 

He scored 56 goals from 377 matches for the club. He also helped them win the Group B Division 2 title as well as secured promotion to the French top-flight.

Redon entered Rennes’ history books for scoring the club’s first-ever European goal in the 1-1 draw against Glasgow Rangers.
