World’s Football governing body FIFA has intervened in the FIF presidential election calling for the suspension of the electoral process.
FIFA's intervention comes barely hours after the rejection of Didier Drogba's candidacy for the presidency of the FIF on grounds of not having required support.
In order to ensure a free and fair FIF election, FIFA has ordered the FIF electoral commission to send the files of all the candidates latest his Friday 28 August 2020.
The FIF election was slated for 05 September 2020 but the Secretary General of FIFA, Fatma Samoura has called for the immediate suspension of all activities related to the electoral process until further notice.
"Pending receipt of your documents and information, we invite you to suspend all actions relating to the electoral process until further notice," Fatma Samoura, to the FIF electoral commission.
