Today marks exactly 19 years after a coordinated terrorist attack was carried out at the World Trade Center in New York.

On 11 September 2001, some nineteen men belonging to the Al-Qaeda terrorist group crashed hijacked passenger gets into the Twin Tower that brought both towers into debris.

The September 11 terrorist attack saw the death of close to 3,000 people in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The 9/11 terrorist attack prompted the then U.S President George W. Bush to declare a war on terrorism and in Afghanistan.

A special search operation mission was launched to capture the then Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden years after the attack until May 2011 when he was shot dead by the US Navy SEALS during a raid in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Today, the Americans are commemorating the 29th anniversary of the attack which is considered the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil after Pearl Harbor in 1941.

A new tower had been built at the World Trade Center site and it remains the tallest building in the United States as of date.
