The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) initially scheduled for January 2021 is set to be postponed to 2022 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic plaguing the world.

The next edition of the African flagship sports competition had to take place in Cameroon from 09 January 2021 to 06 February 2021.

However, with the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Cameroon in particular (over 5,000 cases), and the world in general with over 5.7 million cases, the holding of this prestigious African football competition becomes a nightmare till further notice.

Cameroon has registered a total number above 5,000 cases, with over 165 deaths and close to 2,000 recoveries.
