This decision was concluded during a recent Cabinet meeting that took place on 28 May 2020 at the Star Building on Yaounde.
Accordingly, schools will reopen in two phases, beginning with the class 6 pupils of the primary section, upper sixth students, and universities/professional academic institutions.
Those of Form 4, form 5, and lower sixth shall later follow on 04 June 2020.
This approval comes in days after some teachers trade unions in the country, and the Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Douala had expressed their worries over the idea of school reopening on 01 June 2020 amid the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Cameroon.
Current statistics of the novel coronavirus shows that Cameroon has recorded more than 5,000 cases, with close to 200 deaths, and over 3,000 recoveries.
