The newly appointed and first woman Prime Minister of the Republic of Gabon Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda has officially taken office.
She was sworn in on Wednesday22 July 2020 with her government before the Gabon’s Head of State Ali Bongo Odimba, the Constitutional Court, members of the National Assembly and the Senate.
Appointed on Thursday 16 July 2020, PM Ossouka Raponda replaces Julien Nkoghe Bekale.
With a background in Economics, 56-year-old Ossouka Raponda has as primary responsibility to revive the Gabonese economy that has been crippled by the coronavirus pandemic.
Before becoming Head of the Gabonese government, PM Ossouka Raponda was serving the country as Minister of Defense.
The oath taking ceremony was immediately followed by a Council of Ministers meeting.
