Yoshihide Suga has been elected by the Lower House of Parliament as the new Prime Minister of Japan.
The 71-year-old replaces Shinzo Abe who resigned on 28 August 2020 due to his ill health.
PM suga was endorsed by the parliament after winning 314 out of 462 votes within the Partie Libérale Démocratique (PLD).
