Iran has issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump and 35 others over the killing of an Iranian top General Qassem Soleimani on 03 January 2020.
According to Al Jazeera English, the US killed General Qassem Soleimani, leader of the Revolutionary Guard Corps's expeditionary Quds Force, and others in the January attack near Baghdad International Airport.
The United States accused Soleimani of masterminding attacks by Iranian-aligned militias on US forces in the region.
Iran has requested for the support of INTERPOL to issue a Red Notice for the 36 alleged murders of General Soleimani with President Trump at the top of the list.
INTERPOL has responded by saying that “would not consider requests of this nature” because it is not in accordance with its rules and constitution, which states that "it is strictly forbidden for the organization to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character."
However, Tehran prosecutor Ali Alqasimehr has promised that Iran would continue to pursue the matter even after Trump’s end of office.
